About Us – ActuallyFree.com. The #1 Place Online to Find Free Stuff And Freebies That Are Actually Free.
About Us – ActuallyFree.com
The word “free” is one of the most popular and most effective words in marketing. However, the fine print of most “free” promotions can make you think of another common four-letter f-word. Most of the time, when the word “free” is used, the deal is not actually free. Such cases might include phrases like “free after activation” or “free with a purchase of”, which require a monetary commitment and are therefore not actually free. So why is the word used so often? That’s simple; it’s because the word “free” has higher sales results. When you think about it, “buy one get one free” is the exact same offer as “2 for 1”. Yet every time marketers conduct studies to see which phrase produces more sales, the one with the word “free” always wins. This has lead to the overabundance of the use of the word “free” and in turn a common reluctance by consumers to believe whether it’s true. The cliches “if it sounds too good to be true it probably is” and “there’s no such thing as a free lunch” were sprouted from consumer skepticism. Yet there are, indeed, freebies that are actually free! Even a free lunch; especially on your birthday.
Actually Free began in 2008 as a simple article that was written in response to a question found on Yahoo! Answers. An individual asked if there was a website he could go to where he could get something for free without participating in free trials or referring friends. One of the responses was that there is no such thing as a website that you could go to where strangers will give you items for free. The question and answer were both referencing a then-common scheme online where people hope to get a new electronic gadget, like a new cell phone or camera, by participating in “offers” and referring their friends. In the context of brand new electronic gadgets, the response was correct. However the statement itself was false since complete strangers give away their used items on Craigslist and social media on a daily basis. This question on Yahoo! Answers, and the response, both lead to researching other ways of getting freebies. One article became multiple pages on a website, and as research continues, pages are added.
ActuallyFree.com is #1 place online to find free stuff and freebies that are ACTUALLY FREE. It’s Your Guide To Becoming a Freebie Hunter.
While most freebie sites simply list free samples and other types of freebies, this site also aims to educate users on the hacks and strategies of getting free stuff. Once you know the motivation behind the freebie, it becomes easier to find them and recognize them. You will understand the fine print, the obstacles, and alternate terms of “free”. It will also help you with the art of extreme budgeting so that the quest for freebies is not simply a gratuitous thrill that culminates in the receipt of a single prize, but a practice that can result in better financial management.
This site is also different from other “free sites” in that it makes a clear distinction between freebies that you can get offline (labeled “free stuff” on this site), and freebies that you can get online (labeled web freebies). This has evolved after a process of visiting thousands of sites offering freebies online, many of which offer free email newsletters, free ebooks and other digital freebies, some of which have very little value, if any at all. Yet, some digital freebies, such as information or intellectual property, can be leveraged to produce even greater value than freebies that are tangible. The details of this are part of the education that is provided by this site.
Goals of Actually Free.
The first goal of this site is to help you reduce expenses on your budget by getting free stuff and free services. You will learn how to become a freebie hunter by discovering the different ways to get free stuff.
The second goal of this site is to create a directory of the best freebies, downloads and services offered on the world wide web. These are included under the section titled “Web Freebies.” A wide range of freebies are provided from free movies, music, software, and pretty much anything that can be delivered electronically.
As an added bonus to these two goals, there is also a section titled “AF.C Freebies” which includes freebies and free services offered directly from Actually Free. Perhaps some of the most useful free services are the Freebie Finding Help service and Actually Free Experiments. The Freebie Finding Help service offers personal assistance in finding specific freebies; just submit a request and we’ll do our best to help you find a particular freebie within reason. The goal of Actually Free Experiments is to provide a non-biased third-party review of any claim to freebies. If you are unsure about the validity or safety of a freebie then you’d hesitate to even try it. Submit that freebie for review and see the report once the freebie has been human-tested.
Safe & Reliable Information:
The word “free” can sometimes mean “danger”, since it is often used as a lure for malicious intent. To the best of our ability, the information provided on this site is safe and reliable. Resources listed on this site, including manually-placed third-party links, have to meet the following criteria in order to be listed on this site:
- They offer a freebie that is actually free (meaning there is no monetary requirement for obtaining the freebie)
- They are human-tested OR they are clearly labeled as not tested.
- They have a good report with a reliable antivirus program like Norton (checked with Norton Safe Web).
- They must be legal OR if their legality is questionable it is clearly stated.
- They must be family-friendly.
If a link or banner is clearly marked as “sponsored” or an “advertisement” then it is placed there by a third party ad network, like Google Adwords and AF.c cannot vouch for those links. Like any “freemium” model, this site is supported by ads in order to keep operating. On occasion affiliate links may be used to generate additional income for the site. However, providing reliable information is the first consideration and then affiliate links are placed where available and applicable. If you like the site and it benefits you, please also consider donating.
On occasion we’ll post something that is not actually free, but generally if it is going to be listed on this site it must represent a discount of at least 70% or more or be a significantly useful tool for getting freebies or helping your budget.
Honesty
Since this site was not created to sell a specific product, the authors are free to present the information honestly. There is no resource included that we would not share with family or that is not clearly labeled with caution. As an example of the kind of truth that Actually Free provides, the non-related topic of dieting is used here as a demonstration:
What other sites will tell you:
“Celebrities lost 50 lbs in a week with acai berry diets”
What Actually Free will tell you:
“Celebrities loose weight with acai berries, and you can too, by limiting your calories, daily exercise, and by following the guidance of professional trainers and nutritionists. You’ll loose weight but you won’t necessarily look like a barbie doll or Arnold Swarzenagger (in his prime). More than anything, this is a matter of life-style, not getting something quick. You could consider options like cosmetic surgery, but that won’t necessarily make you happy or healthy.”
Do you notice how the second paragraph takes away the gimmick and gives you more information that you can consider as a rational human being? Many times freebies are actually free, but they’re not always convenient. Big business and marketers are always thinking of ways to make spending money easier in order to increase sales. Knowing this is part of the challenge of spending less.
Actually Free is committed to providing free, family-friendly, and safe content.
