For the 6th year in a row Kiplinger has released a list of “Fabulous Freebies.” This is an excellent list, however beware that many of the items on the list are not actually free. A number of items require that you spend money in order to get the deal. Examples of deals that are listed which are not actually free include: Free Shipping, Kids Eat Free, Bags Fly Free, Hotel Freebies, and a few rewards programs such as Rewards Credit Cards, Frequent Flyer Programs, and Store Membership Programs. While these deals are not actually free, they can still be fantastic resources for saving money as long as the shopper/consumer doesn’t allow these deals to psych them into spending more. Kiplinger’s list contains 64 slides with 2-3+ freebie resources listed on each slide, and most of them are actually free. Many of the freebies listed can be offered online and offline. Kiplinger doesn’t make a distinction between web-only freebies and free stuff you can get offline.
