Actually Free Experiments
Actually Free Experiments are experiments that are conducted by AF.c to provide additional information for freebie hunters. Actually Free educates site visitors on how to get free stuff and aggregates freebies from multiple different sources. Whenever freebies are discovered they’re added to the appropriate directory for anyone who may be interested. Yet, some freebies may still be available even if they don’t have a web page or link online. That’s when an experiment would need to be conducted to test if the freebie is actually free and real.
For example, there are multiple free samples listed online. They would usually involve filling out a form online to request that the freebie be mailed to you. However, those are not necessarily the only free samples that you could possibly receive. As explained on the free samples page, you could reach out to specific manufacturers to request freebies. This is where Actually Free Experiments would come in. We would conduct an experiment to report which manufacturers granted free samples upon request, which ones denied the request and which ones ignored the request. Or we might conduct an experiment to see if it is more effective to request the free sample by traditional mail instead of email.
Along with providing resources and reporting where free stuff might be available, experiments could also provide additional information how to get the freebie or what to do to get it. For example, an AF.c author might attend a grand opening or other event with a door prize and report how early people had to show up in order to receive the prize. This would a help a freebie hunter who decides that they want to get more door prizes. It’s one thing to know that they can get the freebies at those events, but it’s another thing to know that they should show up at least 2 hours early to receive the door prize.
