Yard Sale Leftovers
Yard sale leftovers are freebies that you can possibly get after yard sales have ended. When a yard sale is over, some people will continue to store whatever has not sold, but other times they’ll be ready to just get rid of it. Usually the best items will sell within the first hour of a yard sale. Yet, there may still be some nice items by the end and you could get lucky. Like dumpster diving, Craigslist or any other scavenger-type freebie strategies, it helps if you have repair or craft skills.
If you’re interested in yard sale leftovers, start by going to yard sales and ask the people having the sale what they plan to do with the leftovers and what time they plan to end the sale. You might even want to give them your phone number in case something changes and they end at a different time. If they explain that they’re getting rid of everything left, then they’ll probably let you come pick whatever you want.
An even better way to get these freebies is to offer a free haul-away service, meaning you’ll offer to haul away everything that is left. You’d need a truck for this. You could even print business cards to leave behind so that it looks a little more professional. Often a good presentation is the difference between getting freebies or getting nothing. Once you haul away everything, then you could pick and choose what you want and either throw away the rest or donate it to a thrift store.
Most often yard sales will occur early Saturday morning. You can drive surrounding neighborhoods and look for signs. Yard sales may also be announced on Craigslist.
